ECHOLIGHT
REMS ultrasound technology

BoneHealth BC uses a new, validated technology called Echolight REMS, a radiation-free alternative that is FDA- and Health Canada-approved and widely used in Europe.

A bone density scan is used primarily to assess or identify osteopenia (low bone density) and osteoporosis. It also determines future fracture risk, typically for hips and the lumbar spine.
BoneHealth BC provides patients with the following data as part of their bone mineral density scan:
BONE MINERAL DENSITY
Z-SCORE (a measurement and standardized score used to compare an individual’s bone density to the average bone density of a healthy person of the same age and sex)
T-SCORE (comparison of an individual’s bone density to the average bone density of a healthy young adult of the same sex)
FRAGILITY SCORE (assesses the microarchitecture of bone and provides a 5-year predictive value for fracture.

A bone scan will cost $195 + applicable taxes
Extended health insurance will often cover the cost of your REMS scan, so be sure to check with your provider.
BoneHealth BC does not offer direct billing at this time, and we do not offer payment plans for our services.

BoneHealth BC is a company consisting of a collaborative team of medical professionals and sonographers focused on bone health and mobile bone mineral density screening using REMS technology.
REMS (Radiofrequency Echographic Multi-Spectrometry) technology combines ultrasound and radiofrequency to measure the quantity and quality of bones.
BoneHealth BC uses the Echolight REMS ultrasound technology platform to support clinicians and empower their patients to improve the assessment of bone health and safely improve clinical and functional bone-related outcomes.
Dr. Jonathon Berghamer, ND
FOUNDER

Dr. Jonathon Berghamer, ND, has been focused on health and well-being most of his life. Experiencing pain from a young age brought him to seek out new and old medicines alike. He made a career out of a passion for helping and empowering family, friends, and patients to understand what optimal health means and how to achieve it — not just in their physical well-being, but in all facets of their lives.
Dr. Berghamer has experience working with a large variety of musculoskeletal conditions, injuries and pain, traumatic brain injuries and concussions, hormone optimization, chronic systemic and digestive infections, and health and longevity optimization through genetic assessment and interpretation. He employs a combination of hands-on techniques with individualized assessment programs to help patients live the lives they love.
When Dr. Berghamer isn’t at the clinic, you will find him spending time with his young family in the great outdoors or teaching other physicians the skills and techniques he has learned.
Dr. Berghamer completed his Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Genetics and Molecular Biology at the University of Guelph. He continued his studies at the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine, where he graduated with a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine.
Dr. Todd Levins, ND

Dr. Todd Levins, ND, brings over 20 years of professional experience with a clinical interest in musculoskeletal medicine. His passion for this field has led him to serve as a frequent speaker, consultant, and researcher, with multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals on regenerative medicine.
Todd's dedication to bone health stems from his belief that evidence-based knowledge can counteract the prevailing climate of fear and frailty surrounding osteoporosis. His goal is to empower individuals to maintain freedom of movement and physical confidence throughout every stage of life.
Dr Levins completed a BSc in Biology at the University of Victoria and went on to complete his Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto.
Edward (Buddy) Osborne

Edward (Buddy) Osborne has over 30 years of experience in the healthcare market, spanning both the public and private sectors in Ontario and Western Canada. As one of the founders of BoneHealth BC, Buddy is passionate about improving healthcare for Canadians through education and bringing a "point of care" approach to bone health and wellness initiatives. Buddy's role as Business Development, Education, and Clinical Liaison with BoneHealth BC involves connecting with and fostering relationships within communities throughout BC.
Buddy graduated from UBC Microbiology and, early in his career, worked at BC Centre for Disease Control as a research scientist. He then transitioned to marketing, sales, and education roles at Abbott Laboratories' Diagnostic Division, which provided further opportunities to work with Acuson, a leader and pioneer in ultrasound technology, in the fields of Sales, Marketing, and Education. Buddy has enjoyed working for other innovative healthcare companies such as GE, Siemens, and Esaote.
Buddy specializes in sales and marketing for ultrasound innovations, and has worked as education coordinator in physiotherapy, physiatry, sport medicine, rheumatology, naturopathic medicine, and MSK markets in the area of ultrasound imaging and needle-guided ultrasound injections.

This model allows patients, with or without a primary care provider, to access virtual medical care to establish personalized care plans that address diet, lifestyle, exercise, supplementation and, when necessary, prescription medications.
